The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged murder of a 26 year old woman, identified as Precious Mogaji, in Ibadan.
According to the police, the incident occurred in the Oguntula area of Ojoo and not at Akobo as widely reported in some sections of the media. The Command said it decided to clarify the situation following misleading reports claiming that a husband was caught attempting to place his wife’s corpse in the trunk of a car.
In a statement issued on March 9, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, preliminary findings showed that the case was reported to the police around 12:05 a.m. by a good Samaritan. The informant told officers that the victim was found lying lifeless at the entrance of the room belonging to her boyfriend, identified as 29 year old Quadri Mohammed.
Following the report, a patrol team and the Incident Duty Officer from the Nigeria Police Force division in Ojoo were immediately deployed to the scene. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of the victim at the doorway of the suspect’s room. The scene was examined and documented according to standard investigative procedures.

Police authorities said photographs were taken at the scene before the body was evacuated to a hospital in Ibadan where it has been deposited in a morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
The police further disclosed that the victim’s boyfriend, Quadri Mohammed, is currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspect as investigations continue.
The Command also appealed to members of the public with useful information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station or contact the police through the Oyo State Call Response Centre toll free line 615 or the Command’s control room lines.
Authorities urged residents to disregard misleading information circulating on social media while the investigation is ongoing.
