OPINION: Fire Outbreaks In Ibadan, Oyo State

Over the years, last year 2025 and couple of times this year 2026, Ibadan City and Oyo State in general have recorded many devastating fire outbreaks in both public and private organizations. The Oyo State Fire Service reported 272 fire incidents between January and September 2025 alone and we have already recorded about Six so far in 2026.

Many of these fire outbreaks would have been prevented or quickly put under but for lack of fire fighting equipment from the state government, markets, public and private organizations which has resulted in loss of lives and properties.

The Photographers were taken in December 2019 during a fire outbreak at Small Scale Company at Oni and Sons Area, Ring Road, Ibadan. The small scale company was completely razed down even with combined efforts of both the state and federal fire services.
