Shooting Stars Will Rise Again-Gov. Seyi Makinde

FORTUNE has smiled on the football club as the present administration led by the Governor of Oyo state, Seyi Makinde, a keen follower and supporter of Shooting Stars has promised to restore the glory of the football club. This was stated when the management, players and supporters of the club paid a courtesy visit to the governor today on the way forward for the club.

The management of the club stated that the club has been facing lot of challenges over the years due to poor funding and changes in administrations which contributed to the decline of the club and a major contributor to their last defeat to Akwa starlets which ended their quest for promotion to Nigerian Professional League.

The management led by the Team Manager, Mr Dimeji Lawal, the General Manager Mr. Rasheed Balogun, the Club Coach Edith Agoye, Chairman, supporters club, Oluwafemi Oyeniyi, promised to do their best in bringing back the image of the club back to its former glory and pleaded with the state government to intensify the  support for the club as regard to funding and rebranding.

Governor Seyi Makinde expressed sadness on the situation of the club due to the nonchalant attitude of the previous administration to sports development in Oyo state.

“This is why government will do the needful to pick the club up from the lower level it is now and take it to the high level.

“The club will be properly funded, the players will be motivated and we will give the required resources and attention to the club,’’ the governor assured.

The governor urged the club management to stay focused and brace up for the future, saying government would play its part and the results would show very soon.

“I can assure the club management and all sports lovers that the club will get promoted this season, even if it takes a miracle to happen.’’

Makinde disclosed that a Special Assistant in charge of 3SC would be appointed in the Office of the State Governor for effective attention.

The shooting star football club popularly known as the Oluyole warriors is one of the most followed clubs in Nigeria. They are known for winning the FA cup in 1971, but as years rolled by, 3SC has been struggling with relegation and after they lost their ticket to the National Professional Football League.
