The Oyo State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of official uniforms to intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj, as part of efforts to ensure a smooth pilgrimage. The initiative was carried out alongside the third phase of the statewide Education and Orientation Exercise designed to adequately prepare pilgrims for the journey.
Speaking during the exercise, the Board’s Chairman, Sheikh Wahab Atere Hashim Olamide, emphasized the importance of cooperation and discipline among pilgrims. He assured that the Board has put necessary measures in place to guarantee a hitch-free exercise, aligning all arrangements with established Islamic guidelines and best practices for Hajj operations.
Sheikh Atere highlighted improvements in logistics, noting that challenges such as prolonged flight delays and associated stress have been significantly minimized. He added that the Board has structured airlift operations to ensure minimal waiting time between batches departing for Saudi Arabia.
The Chairman further advised intending pilgrims to adhere strictly to instructions provided by designated group leaders, stressing that wearing the distributed uniforms would enhance easy identification and coordination throughout the pilgrimage. He underscored discipline as a key requirement for a successful Hajj experience.
The orientation exercise, held across Oyo, Iseyin, and Saki, featured a range of preparatory activities including lectures, medical screenings, and prayers. The Board attributed its achievements so far to the continued support of the administration of Seyi Makinde, pledging to build on the progress to deliver a seamless Hajj operation in 2026.
