Students Union bars culprit from SUG Building

A 200-level student of the Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan, Faith Adegoke, is presently facing an allegation of sexual assault of an anonymous 100-level student on campus.

According to gathered information, the culprit, who is the Public Relations Officer for the Sigma Club, University of Ibadan, reportedly to have allegedly committed the crime against the fresher who had joined other girls for night reading in preparation for her exams.

Based on reports, when the lights went out in the lecture hall where the victim was studying, she allegedly left to take a nap at the student union building, where the suspect reportedly assaulted her.

An informant, while narrating the incident, explained that the fresher woke up to a touch and while she was held down and could not scream as she was was prevented strongly by the suspect who restrained her by holding down her neck, silencing her.

An eyewitness recounted, “The girl was feeling sleepy, so she went to sleep inside the S.U. building. The guy shone a torchlight upon her face and held her neck down so she wouldn’t be able to shout.

“Fortunately, luck was on her side when another student entered at that point, and the alleged culprit fled the scene before he could be apprehended

“I am not sure, but the rumour going around is that he forced himself inside of the girl. They are keeping the girl anonymous because of reputation.”

Faith has subsequently been removed from his roles as the General Publicity Coordinator of the UI Student Union Public Relations team and the Public Relations Officer of the Sigma Club, as circulated by a message from the S.U.G and a notice by the Sigma Club respectively.

The Public Relations Officer Unit of the Citadel of Learning has not given a response to a press inquiry as of press time.
