OFFICIALLY: OYO ADC Guber Candidate Lanlehin In, Ajadi Out!

The African Democratic Congress ADC has confirmed the candidature of the Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as the gubernatorial candidate of the party in the forthcoming 2019 general election in Oyo state.
This confirmation is coming after a conflict of who the candidate to represent the party will be after the Independent National Electoral commission INEC had recognized Bamidele Ajadi.
INEC had on the 9th of November, 2019, in accordance with the provisions of the law displayed Ajadi’s name alongside other contestants from other political parties, thereby recognizing the candidature of Bamidele Ajadi as the party’s flag bearer at the polls.
However, the National Working Committee of the party has decided to field Senator Lanlehin as the authentic party Flag bearer in the state.
According to sources, Bamidele Ajadi’s name was only fielded in the interim so as to meet the deadline given by INEC for the submission of the names of candidates for political positions. It should be noted that Bamidele Ajadi is also the National Vice Chairman (Southwest) of the party
In line with the provision of Section 34 of the Electoral act (as amended), parties have until the 2nd of December to withdraw or replace any candidate’s name for Governorship and state houses election.
Lanlehin while speaking to supporters at a rally held in Ibadan yesterday noted that he just returned from Abuja where every detail concerning his candidature was resolved and settled. According to him, His name is now on the INEC website as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the state. He solicited for the people’s support towards his ambition of becoming the state’s governor noting that if elected, good times are ahead in the state.
