APC holds emergency rally

The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi has debunked the rumours making rounds in the state through various media that the scheduled local government election slated to be held on the 12th of May has been cancelled.

IbadanCityAnnouncer was at the emergency rally organized by the All Progressive Congress at the party Oke Ado Secretariat Ibadan where governor, empathically stated that the May 12 Local Government election will hold. The impromptu rally was attended by the leaders of the party in the state and all intending contestants in the upcoming chairmanship and councillorship positions under the umbrella of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The Governor clarified that contrary to speculations swirling round, the election will take place in all INEC registered and recognized wards in the local government. Therefore the elections to be held will not take into consideration those newly erected 35 local council development areas in the state. He emphasized that the speculation was only as a result of the misunderstanding and misinterpretation of the court judgment,

It will be recalled that on Wednesday, a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan granted an interlocutory injunction restraining the Oyo State Independent National Electoral Commission from conducting elections in the wards created by the commission.

At the meeting, he called on all APC chairpersons in each local government in the state to ensure that all fights and rancor within their ranks are settled before the election so that the party can have a smooth and successful exploits at the polls.
