#SplashGovDebate :I will discontinue irrelevant projects in Oyo State – Seyi Makinde

The governorship Candidate of the People Democratic Party PDP Engr Seyi Makinde has promised to prioritize the economic development of the state when he comes to power by carrying out projects that will stimulate the economy. He stated this while participating at the Oyo state governorship debate held in Ibadan the state capital

The debate held at the university of Ibadan conference centre was organized by Splash fm and Lagelu fm. The debate which was bid to have seven 7 contestants in attendance but however had in attendance six governorship candidates in attendance with the candidate of the Action Democratic party ADP, Chief Adebayo Alao Akala conspicuously absent from the debate. Prominent dignitaries in Oyo state were also in attendance.

While answering questions on continuation of projects embarked upon by the present administration

I am not going to be a governor that will continue a program that does not liberate the masses of Oyo state. There are some projects ongoing right now for instance saying that all roads leading to major cities in Oyo state must be dualised what is the economic values. I will fix roads to the production centres, I will ensure that whatever infrastructural projects that we embark upon is linked to our economy.

On godfatherism, Seyi Makinde reiterated his position that he has no godfather in politics and that is why he has no body to answer to for the squandering of meager resources of the people. He noted that ever since he joined politics, God has been his godfather. He noted that the lack of a godfather will motivate him to concentrate on serving the good people of the state and bring the much needed development to the state.

On local government autonomy, the PDP candidate noted that his party remains the only party that has continually harped on restructuring the country. He pledged to make the local government autonomous and effective. He lamented that most local government workers only go to work for limited number of days in a month and only become active when the allocation comes in to be shared.
