Ibadan Boys High School celebrates 80th Anniversary.

History, pomp and celebration beckon as the hallowed Ibadan Boys High school marks her 80th anniversary
The school which was founded by Chief T.L Oyesina came into being in the year 1938. It is the first Private secondary institution to be established in the whole of Ibadan land.


As the first of its kind in Ibadan, the school has churned out enviable individuals who have contributed in no small measure to the development and growth of Ibadan and Nigeria at large in virtually all sectors of the Nigerian society. It is to her credit that the school has produced two Governors in the state. They are late Chief Kolapo Ishola, and Chief (Sen) Rashidi Ladoja. Other prominent individuals are Chief Bode Amoo who is the National President of the Old boys Association, Otunba Reuben Famuyibo, Prof. Akeredolu, Prof. Adeyemi (former DVC of UI), Barrister Yusuf Alli (SAN), Real Admiral Akintola (Rtd) Gen Alabi Isama (Rtd), Dr Robert Okogie who works with NASA in America and a host of other distinguished Nigerians.
The principal of the school, Alh Abubakar Olasupo who is also an old boy, lauded the efforts of the members of the Old Boys Association under the leadership of Chief (Dr) Bode Amoo OON, for putting the programs together both to give thanks to God for the gift of the school and also to impart the lives of the present generation of students. He noted that even before this 80th anniversary celebration, some old boys have granted scholarships and educational as well as financial assistance to students of the school so as to encourage them in their academic pursuit.
Already different projects have been, and are being embarked upon by the old students, all of which are going to be unveiled in the course of the celebration. There are also outlined projects being championed by the old students that are going to go a long way in improving the academic sporting, and overall standard of the institution.
Activities marking the 80th anniversary celebration begin on Thursday with a church service at St James Cathedral Oke bola and an entrepreneurial talk is also slated for the benefit of the students. On Friday, a medical outreach is on the bill as well as Jumat service at the Ansar-Udeen mosque at Ososami in Oke Ado. The Bust of the School proprietor, Chief T.L Oyeshina will be unveiled on the day.
The grand finale is set for Saturday, where a plethora of projects embarked upon by the Old boys would be commissioned. A fund raising and gala night is also billed the day. Awards will be given to eminent and distinguished individual also at the grand finale.
