Fence Mending/Alliance: Tinubu Courts Akala As Makinde Meets Ladoja Over Oyo Governorship Election

The foremost All Progressives Congress Chieftain Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a meeting with the former governor of Oyo State and the gubernatorial aspirant under the umbrella of the Action Democratic Party ADP, Otunba Alao Akala over a possible alliance with the ruling All progressive Congress in the State.
Otunba Alao Akala who was a former APC chieftain in the state decamped to the ADP after he was denied the governorship ticket under the platform of the APC.
The former Governor Alao Akala who hails from Ogbomosho holds a remarkable political clout and followership in the region as his party’s candidate Captain Ajao Adejumo secured a House of Representatives Seat in the Ogbomosho North /South / Oriire constituency.
According to a source The victory of the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar over Muhammadu Buhari in the state also puts pressure on the ruling All Progressives Congress as the governorship election in the state comes closer.
The current move by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is also seen as a fence mending endeavour to assuage the feelings of Otunba Alao Akala over the latter’s displeasure on the removal of his son as the chairman of the Ogbomosho North local government. This move by the state chapter of the APC came after Chief Akala’s son Olamiju Akala who won the Local Government chairmanship under the platform of APC decamped from the All Progressives Congress to join his father at the Action Democratic Party.
Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP Engr Seyi Makinde has held a meeting with the former governor of the state and the Political kingpin Chief Rasheed Ladoja over the next month’s governorship election.
Though the outcome of the meeting is still unclear, it is believed it is in a measure to form a good partnership so as to wrestle power form the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the state in the forthcoming gubernatorial election on the 9th of March.
Ladoja who was the State governor in the state between 2003 to 2007, is believed to enjoy massive political followership in the state. The former PDP chieftain is presently a Zenith Labour Party leader in the State.
It will be recalled that some of the major opposition parties Action democratic party ADP chief Alao Akala, ADC’ Sen. Olufemi lanlehin and the ZLP candidate Shafarudeen Alli held a meeting recently to form a formidable alliance in a bid to challenge the ruling APC candidate Adebayo Adelabu to the governorship seat.
