Fire Razes Shops In Ibadan

Following the fire outbreak on Monday afternoon at Idi Mango, Ire Akari Estate Area of Soka, Ibadan, our reporter visited the popularly furniture store known as “Standard Furniture” for on the spot assessment of the fire incident

An eye witness who spoke to us, Bolatito odukoya said ” the fire outbreak started around 3pm, one of the apprentice was burning refuse just right behind the shop and before we knew it, fire gutted the whole place. We called the fire service and they arrived after one hour, when the whole place has been razed down by fire.

One of the apprentices, Shola Lawal said ” my boss has lost over 20million naira from this incident. We had our clients unfinished works there too but now, everything is gone. I hope the government would come to our aid in this trying time”.

A resident of that area, Miss Omolola said “I am so happy there was a quick response especially from the community to put out the fire before the fire services came, my house is behind the Carpenter’s shop. I thank God no one was hurt too”.

Another trader, Mr Sanusi Sotubo said “The fire incident affected furniture store and two other shops at Ire Akari entrance, the whole place is burnt down. Just this year, bomb blast, now fire outbreak, may God continue to keep watch over us”.
